Dr. Niall McLaughlin
My training began at University College Dublin, Ireland, with my degree in Human physiology. After college, I took the opportunity to do Medical School in Grenada West Indies at an international program. Having completed training in both the UK as well as US, I completed my Residency here in Columbia at the University of South Carolina. This is how I came to know our practice. Nephrology fellowship was done in MCV Richmond VA before a two-year spell as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at UF Jacksonville Florida. I joined CNA in 2006 and have been here since.
Throughout my time in Columbia, I have served as Head of Providence hospital Dept of Medicine for four years as well as serving on the Medical Executive Committee for Palmetto Hospital. Our group are Clinical Assistant professors with USC and teach residents and students.
My main clinical interests are treating hypertension and geriatric nephrology. I am a qualified specialist in hypertension with the American Society of Hypertension.
Outside of work, I take a keen interest in Historic aviation being an active member of the SCHAF and the B25 WW2 bomber our group are restoring. I do also volunteer with a wonderful museum in Canada who actually fly WW2 aircraft in preserving the history of the veterans who served.
